OUR VIEW: Watch your nightly street parking

Our days of parking on the streets at night are over – at least until March of next year.

As of Nov. 15, and until Feb. 28, any car parked on the street or a city-owned parking lot in Logan during 1 to 5 a.m. will be ticketed

We all might hate it, but it comes with the territory of Logan city. And, with the upcoming snow, mabye it’s for the better.

Of course it’s understandable to be bothered when your car is ticketed when the weather is dryer than the desert and there’s a .0001 percent chance of snow.

But, when it does snow 2 feet by morning, and it sometimes does when the stars are out the night before, the city needs to plow the streets.

Would we rather deal with a 2 feet of light snow on the road (hopefully plowed by drive time) or 3 feet of ice packed up to our tires from the snow plow?

When that does happen, ice builds up in the middle the street and it becomes a safety hazard for other cars, the snow plow trucks and possibly pedestrians.

Yes, it’s a pain, but it’s not just for the city, it’s for us.

One more thing, we might procrastinate our homework, but if you do get a ticket, pay for before 10 working days, and you’ll get half off – from $30 to $15.

And, for those drinkers who would like to leave their car at the White Owl, walk home and pick it up in the morning, better get a designated driver, or don’t drive at all. In any case, even $15 is much less than a DUI.
