“Packing in the Peaches: Brigham City celebrates the harvest”

If there’s anything more American than apple pie, it’s throwing up corn dogs all over your self on a carnival ride.

Peach Days is a three-day celebration held every September the weekend after Labor Day in Brigham City’s.

“It’s a big party for such a little town,” Camille Johnson, a senior in parks and recreation, said.

Peach Day’s offers many events to attendees including an art and photography contest hosted by the museum, many craft and food booths such as the Search and Rescue department’s “scuba” burgers and a giant picture made entirely of fresh fruit. There will also be carnival rides and a raffle where ticket holders can win a cow.

Another big draw at the annual festival is the 10K Road Race. Last year’s Peach Days hosted its largest fun run to date with over 235 runners ranging in age from 8 to 80 taking part.

The event hosts two parades. A kids’ parade held on Friday night and another one aimed at all ages held Saturday morning with over 100 entries.

This year organizers are planning to host various local bands.

According to Brigham City’s Chamber of Commerce, Peach Days started in 1904 as a chance for locals to take a break from harvesting peaches. It has since grown to a huge event that draws 75,000 people each year from the surrounding area.
