Achieving operational and financial excellence is the theme of Utah State University’s 27th annual Operational Excellence Seminar, Oct. 2 and 3. The seminar is sponsored by Partners in Business.

Partners in business is the only student-run management education program in the United States and features seven seminars each year.

“We are in our 30th year. These seminars bring students, educators, and business owners from all across the Wasatch Front,” said Ross Robson, dean of the College of Business.

The seminar is bringing to Utah renowned business leaders to address the lean enterprise and six sigma, the leading business performance model in the marketplace.

Robson said 350 people are usually in attendance and students can attend free of charge. Business majors are to attend at least seven speakers and receive half of a credit for doing so.

Among some of the headliners are George Koenigsaecker, former president of the Hon Company which doubled productivity and tripled revenues during his time.

Others that will be in attendance include Sandra Postel, vice president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes; David Rowlands, vice president of Xerox; Bruce D. Farmer, CEO of Kenncott Utah Copper ; Lynn Harker, owner of Woodland Furniture; Peter Brown, operations director.

Some of the past speakers who have attended these conferences include Larry H. Miller, owner of the Utah Jazz; Dave Thomas, CEO of Wendy’s and Gary L. Tooker, president of Motorola, Inc.
