Friday, Jan. 5

• Police cited five vehicles without parking permits at the townhouses. Although Parking and Transportation Services is in charge of issuing citations, campus police occasionally assist the agency for after-hours infractions.

Saturday, Jan. 6

• Police responded to a fire in Rich Hall. A shorted wire was the cause of a smoldering ceiling tile.

Sunday, Jan. 7

• Police are investigating the report of a stolen video game and two video game cartridges from a Mountain View Tower room over the Winter Break.

Monday, Jan. 8

• A USU student was arrested on a drug-related charge after a Logan City Police officer contacted USU Police with the student’s name and information about the suspected crime.

Tuesday, Jan. 9

• Police are investigating a report of two podiums that were missing from the Military Science building.

• Police took a report of a disorderly male in the academic resource office. The individual made some remarks that left concern of possible future problems.

Wednesday, Jan. 10

• Police received a report from Child and Family Services of a juvenile individual who was performing illicit acts on another juvenile. Both children were under the age of 7, and one of the child’s parents is a USU student. Police are assisting through investigation of the incident and by making sure the children’s welfare is taken care of.

• An individual refused to comply with the lawful order of a security officer while the officer was securing a building. The individual was authorized to be in the building, but misunderstood university authorization of student security officers.

• Police received a report of a minor traffic accident where damage was estimated at $700. A vehicle in the east stadium parking lot struck another vehicle as it was backing out of a parking stall.

Thursday, Jan. 11

• Police received a report from an individual that someone had sent her two unwanted e-mails of a “mysterious” nature, in which the sender did not identify him or herself.
