Police Blotter: news from the campus and community

Friday, Oct. 15, 2004

* USU Police responded to Aggie Village on the report of individuals outside being loud and playing with wooden swords. Police made contact with the three individuals who were practicing sword fighting techniques. The individuals apologized for the noise.

* USU Police responded to Mountain View Tower on a report of a suspicious odor coming from an apartment. Police discovered that the odor was a fruit-scented air freshener.

* A person was observed pouring gasoline from a container into his vehicle in the area of Skaggs Research. Police are investigating this as a possible theft.

* A housing staff employee contacted the USU Police concering a university owned fire extinguisher that was found on the north side of Cemetary Road. An officer took possession of the extinguisher and will see that it is refilled and returned to the building that it came from.

Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004

* USU Police responded to a report that there were two male individuals dressed in tin foil box costumes with no other clothing on underneath. The officers were unable to locate anyone fitting that description. * USU Police responded to a report of an individual being hit by an egg. This had happened in several other areas in Logan and suspects were stopped by the North Logan Police and turned over to the Logan City Police.

Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004

* USU Police responded to Edith Bowen Laboratory School on a report of a possibly injured pigeon. The bird was located and brought back to the USU Police Station until Animal Control arrived.

* USU Police responded to the B Premium Parking Lot on a report that someone entered a Parking Enforcement Officer’s vehicle and drove it into a tree. Police are investigating at this time.

Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004

* USU Police responded to a report of a traffic offense that happened on 700 N. 900 East. An individual said he was crossing the crosswalk next to the HPER Building with some friends and a vehicle almost hit him. Police are investigating the matter.

* USU Police responded to the HPER west field for a property damage report. A contractor installing a piece of laundry equipment had pulled onto the grass to try and turn around but became stuck and had to be towed back onto the driveway.
