Police Blotter: news from the campus and community

Friday, Nov. 19, 2004

* USU Police responded to a fire alarm in the Sculpture Lab. When the police arrived, they found the alarm had not been activated in the building. Electronics was notified of the problem and will fix it.

* USU Police received a report of a hit and run traffic accident in the R3 parking lot south of Merrill Hall. It was discovered that sometime between 6 p.m. on Nov. 18, and 9 a.m. on Nov. 19, a residents vehicle was struck while it was parked in the lot.

* USU Police responded to an elevator alarm at Mountain View Tower. Upon arrival, it was discovered that there were two individuals trapped in the elevator. The police successfully reset the elevator and the individuals were released.

* USU Police responded to Aggie Village on the report that several male individuals were smoking and drinking alcohol on a balcony. Upon police arrival, it was discovered that the individuals had been smoking cigarettes. The individuals were warned for smoking on campus.

* USU Police responded to Aggie Village on a report of a stray cat trapped on a resident’s deck. Police were successful in capturing the cat. The cat was transported to Cache Meadows and impounded.

* USU Police responded to a medical assist in the Taggart Student Center. An individual was injured when she was country dancing. The individual did not want any medical assistance at that time.

Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004

* USU Police responded to a intrusion alarm at the USU Bookstore. Police searched the inside of the building and found the building to be secure. The alarm was silenced and reset without any further problem.Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004

* USU Police responded to the Aggie Village parking lot on a noise complaint. The complainant stated two individuals were playing loud music and being obscene. When police arrived, the individuals were gone.

* USU Police responded to Richards Hall on a smell of smoke complaint. The smoky odor in this incident appeared to be coming from the pottery kiln located on the west side of the ceramics lab.

Monday, Nov. 22, 2004

* USU Police responded to Snow Hall on a fire alarm. Upon arrival, the police discovered someone had activated a fire alarm pull station on the fifth floor. No one took responsibility for the action and the alarm was reset by the police.
