Police Blotter: news from the campus and community
April 2
* University police responded to the area of the Fine Arts Center on a report of a suspicious person wearing camouflage. Police made contact with the individual who was engaged in a game of capture the flag.
* University police are investigating a burglary at the Zions Bank in the Taggart Student Center. Personal items were taken from a desk.
* Police assisted a student with a bicycle lock problem.
* University police responded to an intrusion alarm at the President’s house. Police checked the exterior of the residence and found nothing suspicious.
* University police assisted Logan City police with a noisy house party at the Pi Kappa Alpha house.
April 3
* University police assisted Logan City police by helping to wake up the residents living near a shed fire that was threatening their homes. The fire occurred in the area of 1100 North and 600 East. Fire crews were able to put the fire out before any homes were damaged.
* University police discovered that the barrier arm east of Edith Bowen was missing and appears to have been stolen. Police are investigating.
* Police received a report that the wind blew over a fence at the President’s house. Police documented the event and the fence will be fixed.
April 4
* University police responded to a report of an individual shooting a paintball gun near Snow Hall.
April 5
* University police responded to Mountain View Tower at the request of maintenance employees who said that a golf cart had been taken from the bike rack area east of Valley View Tower. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the golf cart was located by the maintenance employees.
* University police responded to the Fine Arts Center on a property damage report. The marching band truck had been damaged by part of a tree that fell on top of it due to high winds. The damage was minimal and the grounds crew removed the debris from the truck.
* The USU Bookstore reported the theft of an Apple iPod.
April 6
* University police responded to the parking lot by the Aggie Bull at 800 East and 1000 North on a complaint of a naked individual sitting on the bull. When police arrived no one was in the area.
* A student reported receiving a suspicious phone call at her residence. Police are investigating.
* University police responded to Edith Bowen on the report that someone was trying to scale the outside of the building. When police arrived, the individual had already left. Police checked the building and surrounding area and found no additional problems.
April 8
* Two wallets were turned into University police. Both turned out to be stolen. The owners were contacted and police are investigating the identity of the thief.
* University police responded to Rich Hall on a report of an individual throwing water balloons at people walking by. The individual was contacted and the situation was resolved.
* An individual reported to police that a bag of pills was laying in the Stadium parking lot by a bus stop. Police were later contacted by a person looking for some lost pills. The pills were returned to the owner.
* University police responded to the report of firecrackers being set off near the Spectrum. When police arrived, the individuals responsible had already left the area and were not located.
