Popping the question

Do you think you’re ready to take the next step in your relationship? Wondering how to pop the question in just the right way?

There are so many ways that you can propose to your significant other. It can be by asking the question simply and casually, or it can be treated as an elaborate event.

How you do it depends on who you are and what the person you want to spend the rest of your life with is like. Are they outgoing or quiet? Do they like the outdoors or staying in and playing video games?

Is there something from your relationship both of you value, like a first date or a common interest? It’s a good idea to use what you know about your significant other in deciding how to ask for their hand.

Here are a few ideas on how to propose, if you’re still can’t decide.

Surprise visit!

If you’ve been away for a while, like in army training or on a business trip and plan to propose soon, why not surprise your intended at some event or party? The best way to do this is to make it seem like you’ll be coming home later than planned so they won’t be expecting you. While they’re still reeling in surprise, add another to the mix and pull out the ring.

The classic question

A simple and classic way to propose is to plan a nice dinner or date. Make it a special night, maybe fill it with memories of your relationship, and at the end of it, drop to one knee.

The hidden question

Another way to propose is by hiding the ring or the words “will you marry me” somewhere where you know your intended will find it. This way, you can ask them on the way home from work, on a date, through out the day, hidden in their milkshake if you’d like. Be creative.

Flash mob

When the hidden question won’t do it for you, a growing trend is flash-mobbing your proposal. Beware though, it takes a lot of dedication to recruit the dancers and prepare a routine to your significant other’s favorite song without them knowing, but their reaction will be worth it. Make sure you assign people to record it to capture all that hard work and those reactions.

Secret photographer

There’s been another growing trend to have a photographer nearby to take picture of the moment of proposal and your intended’s reaction. However you choose to propose, it’s nice to be able to go back and see those memories and share them with others.

In the end it depends on you and your significant other. Try to propose in a way that they’ll feel comfortable with and excited for. If they’re more of a private person, they may not feel comfortable with a flashy proposal, and vice versa for outgoing people.

Whatever you do, however you ask, it’s sure to be a special and memorable night for both of you.
