portuguese minor
I am disappointed with the recent decision in the department of languages and philosophy to drop the Portuguese program because of budget cuts. While the university espouses the concept of diversity, it cuts programs that actually make the campus well rounded. I know that tough decisions have to be made in these lean economic times, but I think it is a mistake to lose this widely popular minor. One suggestion: get the money from the same “rainy day fund” that was recently used to pay off the 2.3 million dollar scholarship debacle (Utah Statesman 9/24/03).
