RCDE Wins Prestigious In-House Design Award
The Utah State University Regional Campuses and Distance Education marketing team won an American In-House Design Award for its recent annual report titled ‘Disruptive Education.’ The award was presented by Graphic Design USA, a trade publication for graphic design news, trends, people, ideas and products from the design community.
Reuben Talbot, graphic designer for RCDE, is pleased with the recognition.
“As a designer you often wonder how well your work stacks up against your peers,” said Talbot. “Receiving an award like this helps answer that question and motivates me to continue to strive for that level of excellence.”
He is quick though to credit his team for the dedication and hard work that it took to create the report.
“The annual report is a collaborative effort that requires a lot of time and energy on the part of many,” said Talbot. “Millie Lewis and Steven Handy also played an integral role in the design, photography and content that led to the final product.”
The competition had more than 4,000 entries with approximately fifteen percent receiving recognition. Entries came from organizations such as hospitals, non-profits, universities and large corporations.
Talbot is encouraged to know that the design work his team produces is on par with some of the best in-house design agencies in the country.
“This type of national recognition validates the long hours and effort that went into the creation of this piece,” said Talbot.
Travis Peterson, associate vice-provost and executive director of Academic Program Development for RCDE agrees with Talbot’s assessment and is pleased with the award.
“Reuben and his team put a tremendous amount of effort into creating not only a well-designed report but one that functions effectively and efficiently,” said Peterson. “We are lucky to have such a dynamic and creative team helping us tell the RCDE story.”
According to the magazine’s website, “the American In-house Design Awards is the original and the premier showcase for outstanding work by in-house designers. It provides a unique opportunity for in-house design, marketing and communications departments to be recognized for their talent, for the challenges they face and for their value to businesses and institutions.”
