Rising Stars; Aggie basketball newcomers of the year: Danyelle Snelgro and Chaz Spicer

They may not have led the team in every stat or even had a couple amazing games that blew everyone away, but Danyelle Snelgro and Chaz Spicer have come in this season and provided a spark to Utah State’s basketball teams. The Statesman has chosen these two players as the Aggie basketball newcomers of the year.

Snelgro, a freshman from Altadena, Calif., has averaged 4.6 points in her first season as an Aggie while starting in 11 games. Snelgro was named to the WAC all-freshman team, only the second USU women’s basketball player to receive the honor.

Spicer has averaged 7.6 points coming off the bench for the Aggies, including 14 points in 13 minutes against San Jose State Saturday in the Spectrum. He has entertained Aggies throughout the season with his athleticism under the basket.
