Ritt Momney to play at end of year bash

Utah State University’s annual End of Year Bash is scheduled for Friday, April 15, featuring an array of food trucks and singer Ritt Momney.

“I think the most rewarding part of having this all come together, is knowing that those graduating from USU this semester will have an amazing experience to sum up their undergraduate years,” said Tyson Holman, an Activities Committee member.

This event is an end of year celebration put on by the USU Activities Committee for students and the community in Logan for finishing the academic year at the end of April. Artists that have previously played include X Ambassadors, Scotty McCreery, Charlie Puth and New Politics.

As a result of the pandemic, USU has been limited in what they can do for the event due to restrictions and peoples’ safety. Holman said they are hoping to make a big comeback this year with most restrictions being lifted.

“The Activities Committee has focused our time in meetings to discuss how we want the End of Year Bash to play out and the small details that go into it,” said Jaliyah Suggs, an Activities Committee member. “Personally, I have been advertising it constantly on my Instagram stories and spreading the word to friends.”

From 5-8 p.m., there will be a food truck fair outside of the Fieldhouse at the bus turnaround, and the doors will open to the concert at 7 p.m.

“The most difficult part is navigating the weather. There are certain aspects we were looking to do outside, but did not know what the weather would be like,” said Colton Fetzer, the USU activities director. “Thus, we have to always plan for both good and bad weather.”

USU students will all get a $7 food voucher to spend at the food trucks, but the option to pay is also available. The food trucks include Fry Me to the Moon (“food from out of this world”), DaKine Grindz (Filipino food), Donut Kabobs (mini donuts on a stick), S’Mothered (Mexican food) and Red Food Truck (Peruvian sandwiches).

“Students should look forward to even the games provided if they don’t want to stay for the concert,” Suggs said. “Also, the music played between the wait for the opener and Ritt Momney.”

Students should also look forward to good company and amazing music, Holman said.

The opening artist, Phil Good, will begin at 8 p.m. and play until Momney goes on stage around 8:45 p.m. The night will come to an end at the Block A at midnight for True Aggie Night.

“I am most excited for the fact that we are able to make this event free and open to the public,” Fetzer said. “It is a super great opportunity to create space open and safe for all.”

With the event being open to USU and the public, there are no tickets this year, so people can just show up to the event. It is first come, first serve and there will be no re-entry after 7 p.m.

Fetzer has been a part of all the behind the scenes in order to make this event happen –  communicating with tons of people, implementing new marketing strategies and spreading the word outside of just USU.

Suggs said the most rewarding part of watching the event come together will be seeing many people showing up and being happy to be there, whether they’re students or not.
