With the No. 1 seed on the line, the Utah State women’s basketball team was on the road Saturday night to take on UTSA. The Roadrunners upset the Aggies 80-72 in the regular season finale.

The USU loss coupled with a Seattle win over Idaho means the Aggies will be the No. 2 seed in the WAC tournament, and the Redhawks will be the top seed. This is Seattle’s first season in the WAC.

The Aggies finish the season at 17-12 and 14-4 in WAC play. UTSA, which clinched the No. 4 seed in the tournament, ends the season at 16-13 overall and 10-8 in league play.

Senior Jenna Johnson and junior Jennifer Schlott had good offensive performances, each scoring at least 20 points. Johnson finished with 23 points, while Schlott had 20. Senior Devyn Christensen had a tough night, finishing with 12 points on 5-21 shooting.

The Roadrunners were led by Kamara King, who had 22 points. Simone Young added 21 points and five assists for UTSA.

USU will be back in action Wednesday afternoon when they take on the winner of Denver and Texas State in the second round of the WAC tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. MST.
