Rock was solid vs. Boise State

USU point guard Bernard Rock was a giant in the second half of Saturday’s game against Boise State University.

All 16 of his points came after the intermission, sparking the Aggies to an 18-point victory at the Dee Glen Spectrum.

“We were feeling pretty good playing and we feel pretty confident,” Rock said.

This is the 10th time Rock has scored in double figures this year and the 26th time in his career.

“Bernard’s shots were huge,” said USU head coach Stew Morrill on Rock’s performance.

After knocking down a 3-pointer midway through the second half, Rock came up big with a huge steal that ignited the crowd and shot the decibel level in the Spectrum to 107, its loudest all night.

Morrill said Rock’s percentages aren’t great, but he is the kind of player who can make the big shots.

“Rock did a good job tonight penetrating and kicking the ball around,” Morrill said.

Along with his 16 points, Rock added eight assists and two steals. Rock went 3-for-4 from the arc in the second half.

“I went in the game, got my feet set and some open looks and knocked them down tonight,” he said.

Rock credited the victory to the team’s mental preparation, practice and film-watching this season.

Morrill also gave credit to the fans.

“The crowd was great and definitely was a factor,” he said.

With double-digit wins in the last five games, USU has now won the last 34 of its 35 games at home and is undefeated in league play this season.
