Scout and youth days at Heritage Center
The American West Heritage Center, a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving and sharing heritage and history in fun, family-friendly ways, is presenting its monthly Scout & Youth Days on Aug. 14 from 4 – 5:30 pm. The activity was created for cub scouts, boy scouts, girl scouts, Activity Day groups and other youth groups for inexpensive, old fashioned fun. The theme for August is “S’more Fun & Games”, following the Cub Scout theme for the month (though all youth groups–even non-Scouts–are heartily invited). Youth attending can expect to work in an old fashioned blacksmith’s shop, start fire with flint & steel, and, of course, make s’mores. Reservations are required to attend this popular event.
Scout & Youth Days is held monthly through October. September 11 features “New Buddies” and will present fun activities that deal with teamwork and working together. October 9 will feature “Adventures in Books” as participating youth explore and partially relive books about pioneers, explorers, and other Old West characters.
