See eclipse in Utah this weekend

By Patrick Wiggins

I’ve been seeing some discussions online and hearing in casual conversations that there seems to be some debate about the exact times of Sunday evening’s eclipse.  So I’ve come up with a chart showing exact times from various parts of Utah that you are welcome to send to folks should the need arise.

All times are Mountain Daylight Time.

Note that while I have included times for the end of the partial phase of the eclipse it’s doubtful that many people in Utah will actually see the end.  This is because the Sun will have set for most places in Utah before the partial phase of the eclipse ends.

Some in the zone of annularity may not even see annularity because of very high western horizons. For this reason I’ve been advising those wishing to view the eclipse to observe from a site with as low a western horizon as possible.

All times are based on NASA data and obtained from this chart:

And in case you missed it here is a graphic you are welcome to share showing how maximum eclipse will look from several locations:

And here is a map which you are also welcome to share showing some of the places the Cedar City Tourist Bureau is suggesting the eclipse be viewed from:
