Shop for Pops at C.V. Gardeners’ Market

On Saturday, June 16, the Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market will host Shop for Pops. To celebrate Father’s Day Gene Atkins, backyard cooking expert, will welcome summer with scrumptious tips for barbeque and dutch oven cooking. Shoppers can sample tasty breads and mouth-watering pork and learn how they can make these easy dishes in their own backyards. Additionally, Cache Valley-based fly fishing shop, RoundRocks, will promote cool, relaxing fun with a hands-on fly fishing demonstration. Come learn the fundamentals of casting.

As part of the Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market free Art Attack program, Global Village Gifts will host the internationally renowned art educator, Yvonne Young Merrill. She will be on site from 10 a.m. to noon to supervise and teach children how to make a decorative Aztec fan. This art activity is one of the crafts featured in Yvonne’s “Hands-On” book series, which provides art activities from various cultures around the world.

More than 70 vendors are participating in the Cache Valley Gardeners’ Market this year. This weekend, local gardeners will be selling spring produce such as salad greens, spinach and cilantro, most of which are grown pesticide free. Native perennials and hanging flower baskets will also be available. Freshly prepared food and drinks can be enjoyed at the Market, such as handmade bread and pastries, locally made cheese, all-natural beef jerky, local honey, salsa, coffee and lemonade. The Market is also a great place to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts made by local craftspeople, such as hand-sewn skirts and dresses, photography, jewelry, soap, and lotion.

Each Market day features gifted local musicians. This week music will be provided by guitarist Darin Johnson. So we invite you to sit down with a plate of savory food, enjoy the musical offerings and Shop for Pop! The Gardeners’ Market is held Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pioneer Park, located at 200 East and 100 South in downtown Logan. The Market is easily accessed from Center and 100 East stops from LTD routes 3 & 10.
