SIGMA NU BENEFIT CONCERT
Not only is there something to do in Logan this weekend, it’ll be something to do for a good cause.
Sigma Nu will be hosting a benefit concert Friday, Oct 21, at the American West Heritage Center, located at 4025 South Highway 89/91 in Wellsville.
The concert is to raise money for the victims of the agriculture student van accident and will begin at 6 p.m.
“I want more people to show up than that place will hold,” Steve Morrill, a junior majoring in horticulture and the philanthropy chair for the Sigma Nu house, said. “The more, the merrier.”
Proceeds will be split evenly between the Ag Memorial Fund and the Agricultural Technology Family Support Account unless those donating have a preference.
Tickets are $5, but people are welcomed to donate as much more as they would like.
“It would be amazing for people to bring more,” Morrill said.
In order to offer something for every listening taste, the will be offering two different stages – one indoors and one outside – each with different bands playing.
Morrill said the indoor stage will feature bands such as Tanner and the Rock Bandits, The Blue Blazers and Auburn. Meanwhile, Moment, Mojam, Chronic Layover and Simple People will be playing the outside venue.
Several of the band are from Salt Lake City and will be traveling to Logan just to take part in the event.
USU Dining Services will have traditional concession food for sale and the Heritage Center’s corn maze will be operating separately for anyone interested.
According to Morrill, the Sigma Nu House was planning on holding a benefit event this semester and when the tragic accident happened, they saw a chance to help out some local people.
Morrill said the idea for the concert originally came from the president of the fraternity, Chris Connell, a senior in economics, and they were able to work together with the other Greek organizations and ASUSU to organize the event. Several area business have also contributed.
