Six Aggie football players arrested on marijuana charges

Freshman USU football player Taylor Wallace was charged with three Class A misdemeanors last month for drug distribution, possession and paraphernalia possession.

In the same incident, five USU football players were arrested July 22 and charged with Class B misdemeanor citations for possession of marijuana.

Coach Brent Guy said freshmen Kendall Fisher and Brennan McFadden, sophomore Ryan Tonnemacher and junior Marcus Cross, were “disciplined internally,” although he declined to comment further.

Discipline will not be as severe because this is a first time incident, Guy said.

Freshman Steven Downs was dismissed from the team in August after “repeated violations of team rules” Guy said.

Guy said the other players will not miss any games.

The charge against

Wallace for distribution was reduced from the original charge of third-degree felony. Wallace was temporarily suspended from the team until the charges against him were reduced, at which time he was reinstated.

Downs pleaded guilty and was fined $500. The other four players pleaded guilty but their pleas are pending six months of good behavior. Downs received a harsher penalty because it was his second offense.
