Spooky season has arrived and beyond candy, pumpkins, and black cats, there is no better way to get in the Halloween mood than with a creepy movie. Need some suggestions? Here is a list of six movies that are currently available to stream on Netflix that will make you want to sleep with the lights on: 

The Witch (2015)

Rating: R

Summary: A protestant family exiled to the outskirts of the New England frontier in 1630 grows incredibly paranoid and suspicious of each other as a witch torments them. 

 

Coraline (2009)

Rating: PG

Summary: A young girl finds a portal to a parallel universe that is an ideal version of her reality, although with sinister twists. 

 

Insidious (2010)

Rating: PG-13

Summary: A family moves to escape their seemingly haunted house only to discover that the thing that was really haunted was their son. 

 

The Conjuring (2013)

Rating: R

Summary: Based on true events, Ed and Lorraine Warren, two paranormal investigators, work on their most challenging and terrifying case yet to help a family being terrorized by dark forces in their new farmhouse.

 

Scream (1996)

Summary: This satirical film follows a teenage girl and her friends who are terrorized by a mysterious killer who uses horror films as part of a sinister and deadly game. 

 

Carrie (1976)

Summary: Based on Stephen King’s first published novel, Carrie follows the shy Carrie White who has been sheltered all her life by her overbearing, religious mother. White unleashes sinister telekinetic powers after being humiliated at prom.
