Softball team has rough road start
The Utah State softball team dropped five of its six games at the Kajikawa
Classic over the weekend, including a final 9-0 loss to an Arizona State team,
which blanked the Aggies 8-0 just three days earlier.
USU’s lone victory was a 5-2 win against Cal State Fullerton. The Titans had
upset No. 17 Fresno State earlier that day, but couldn’t overcome the Aggies’
five-run fifth inning.
The Aggies scored just 10 runs to their opponents’ 47 throughout their stay
in Tempe, Ariz. The losses included three shutouts and defeats at the hands
of No. 9 Stanford, No. 12 Oregon State and No. 22 Nebraska.
Utah State will head to Las Vegas Thursday to compete in the UNLV Louisville
Slugger Desert Classic. The Aggies will face UC Davis, Portland State,
Oregon, Illinois and will have a rematch with Fullerton. None of the teams
are ranked in the top 25.
The Aggies will not host a game until March 28.
