Student likes to bike, snowboard and run, but is afraid of going fast
Utah Statesman: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Kidd: I would want to go to New Zealand because I heard they have really good bike trails and you can bike across the whole island, and it’s really beautiful from what I saw in “Lord of the Rings.” And I would like it because then you could go there in the winter.
US: What brought you to USU?
Kidd: My family moved here three years ago, and I had been going to UAA, the University of Alaska Anchorage, but I decided to transfer and give here a try because I’ve been far away from my family.
US: If you could do anything for a day and money wasn’t an issue, what would you do?
Kidd: I would do three things. I’d go ballooning, and I’d go sailing in a sailboat on the ocean and then I would go horseback riding on the beach.
US: Have you ever done anything like those things before?
Kidd: Yeah, I really love the ocean and I really love to be outside, and I love horses. And hopefully my best friend could be there.
US: Where is your favorite place that you’ve been and why?
Kidd: Alaska. I keep saying I like bike trails but let’s see. There’s a lot of good humored people, and it’s beautiful. It has fabulous mountains, and there’s bike trails all throughout Anchorage. You can be in the middle of the city, but you’re in the middle of the forest too.
US: How long did you live there?
Kidd: I lived there when I was 10, and then I went all the way through high school, and then I moved to Hawaii for a year and then moved back there for a couple years.
US: If you could meet any actor, who would you want to meet?
Kidd: An actor? Let’s see. Probably Eddie Murphy because he seems like he would be super funny to have a conversation with.
US: What do you like to do in your free time?
Kidd: In my free time I like to jam on the piano, and I like to write and read a lot. And I like to be outside running or biking or skiing.
US: Have you been skiing up here yet?
Kidd: Yes, I have. I went to Logan Canyon and Green Canyon cross country skiing. It was really cold! I was wearing my gloves and they did not cut it.
US: How did you learn to cross country ski?
Kidd: Actually it’s funny. One of my first classes was public speaking and we had to teach someone in the class, and a German student that was brought to UAA to ski was my partner, and he taught me how to cross country ski. It was cool. We became really good friends.
US: Is there anything you’re afraid of?
Kidd: I have to force myself to go fast. I stop myself a lot when I’m snowboarding. I’m afraid of speed when I’m snowboarding. I thought my head popped off one time when I was snowboarding and was like, “Oh you’re still on!”
US: What is one of your greatest accomplishments?
Kidd: I would say moving to Hawaii when I was 18 with no plan, making it happen with a house and a car and a job and everything.
