Utah Statesman: Why did you choose USU?

Sarah Jenks: USU was close to home, so that was nice. I guess this was just a good place to be.

US: What is your least favorite part of USU?

Jenks: I guess this goes for colleges in general, but it seems like everyone is so focused on marriage. They want to get married and they want you to get married, too. It is so obnoxious to me. Marriage isn’t in my plans for the next five years.

US: If everyone was exactly like you, what would the world be like?

Jenks: Insane! Most of the time I’m really dorky and I act like I’m 6 years old. So I guess we would all play on the playground in the park at midnight. We would all be happy and irresponsible.

US: Who is the most famous person you’ve ever met?

Jenks: I met the king and queen of Sweden once. My family and I do historical reenactments of the civil war and the pioneers, and when the Olympics were in Utah, we performed for them. We were so awkward around them, we didn’t know if we should stand up or sit down. It was interesting.

US: If you were to write a personal ad, what would it say?

Jenks: Call me in five years. And, probably something like “looking for someone goofy who can make me laugh.” I would like someone who is not as much interested in a relationship as just wanting to hang out and play.

US: What is the strangest thing you’ve seen on USU’s campus?

Jenks: I think it’s weird to see parents strolling their babies around on campus. At the TSC there’s a group of moms that get together to eat lunch and I think it is so bizarre.

US: If you had to be any animal, what would you be?

Jenks: I would be a sloth because they just sit up in the trees all day. They don’t really have anything to do but eat and that sounds pretty good to me.

US: If money were no object, what would you do for a living?

Jenks: I would probably move to California and start my own business. I would do something like cater to celebrities. I guess I would sell something everyone needs, and they would pay me a lot of money.

US: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Jenks: Out of school, hopefully. I will probably be married with a few kids, too.

US: What is your biggest pet peeve?

Jenks: I am annoyed by people who are mature for their age and they want me to be the same way. I want to be young and have fun, and I don’t want to grow up too fast.

US: If you could go on tour with any band, who would you go with?

Jenks: Probably Switchfoot because they are my newest favorite band. I saw them when they came to USU and they were awesome. Plus, they are pretty cute.

US: If you could go on any two-week vacation, where would you go?

Jenks: I would probably tour all over Europe because I have always wanted to go there and have never been able to. I’d especially like to go to France – that would be fun.

US: Do you have any obscure talents or hobbies?

Jenks: Well, like I said, my family and I get dressed up in civil war garb and do historical reenactments. We tour all over the place, so almost all of our vacations have to do with the reenactments. We do the Festival of the American West every year, and we’ve been to Fort Bridger and Fort Stevens in Oregon. -lexiek@cc.usu.edu
