Utah Statesman: Why did you come to USU?

Turley: I have friends up here, and it’s away from home.

US: What do you like about USU?

Turley: There’s always something to do. We’re always out playing or country swing dancing.

US: What don’t you like about USU?

Turley: Cold. When it’s cold, it’s too cold. It’s painful.

US: Have you ever hitchhiked?

Turley: Yes. We missed the bus to the city we lived in in Guatemala. It was interesting.

US: How long did you have to walk?

Turley: We got a ride. We went 40 miles in the back of a truck.

US: What are your favorite leisure activities?

Turley: Frisbie, guitar.

US: Are you any good?

Turley: I’m learning. I just get new tabs and figure it out.

US: What is your favorite holiday and why?

Turley: St. Patrick’s Day. It was during Spring Break so we were on vacation.

US: Where did you go?

Turley: St. George, then California, then spent a day in Mexico.

US: What’s your favorite fruit?

Turley: Mango.

US: What’s your favorite animal?

Turley: White tiger because they are rare, but they are cool-looking, powerful and exotic-looking.

US: If you could choose your cause of death, what would it be?

Turley: Old age.

US: If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be?

Turley: Bill Gates, to see what it’s like to be a billionaire. To see if it’s any different.

US: What do you think potential dates find most appealing about you?

Turley: My chicken legs.

US: What did you have for breakfast?

Turley: Chocolate doughnuts.

US: Are you a True Aggie?

Turley: No.

US: Do you want to be?

Turley: Yes. I mean L. Tom Perry is – I have to be.

US: In your experience, where is the best place on campus to meet members of the opposite sex?

Turley: My classes, scoping them out and sitting next to them.

US: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever been on, and what made it so great?

Turley: Going to California with my family every summer. It was a company trip so we stayed in a nice hotel. There was a lot of luxury.

US: Did you like growing up in Ogden?

Turley: I think, yeah. Before that I lived in West Valley. South Ogden is better than West Valley.

US: What TV family would you compare your family to?

Turley: “The Office” family. They are a family.

US: Who are you? Dwight?

Turley: No, I’m Jim. Maybe Stanley.

US: What kind of sheets do you have on your bed?

Turley: Clean. White. Green. Light green. No, they’re white.

US: You seem a little confused. If you looked in your wallet, what would you see?

Turley: Two dollars and debt – credit cards and stuff.

US: If you were stranded on an island with only two things, what would you want those to be?

Turley: A mini helicopter and a GPS system.

US: What do you remember about your first day at USU?

Turley: Confusion and stress.

US: Are you going to stay here?

Turley: Yes. I plan to graduate from here.
