Thanks for everything: from the whole staff
Thank you for picking up the last issue of The Statesman before the Thanksgiving holidays. We are certainly thankful for three classless days. This corner of the paper is usually devoted to griping, but for a change of pace we thought we’d share some things we are grateful for at USU.
We have a perfect office. It’s in a convenient location, near the Quickstop, so we can fuel up for late nights. (We’re also grateful the Quickstop is open until 10 p.m. even though their only clients are Statesman editors who need another 44 ounces of soda to get through the night). The office has access to the main hallway on the first floor of the TSC and to outside, also for those late evenings when we just want to get out of here as quickly as possible. Here we have couches and a t.v., a nice, big office for our advisor, and just enough room to toss a football. And, this year we have a water cooler. We’re grateful for that.
Our professors here at USU are amazing. Because the state doesn’t seem to think education is nearly as important as we do, our budget isn’t very big. Yet nearly all of the people that work at USU are dedicated to their work and doing the best they can with the resources given. Thank you. Because of your willingness to care about your students, we have opportunities and knowledge we would not have had otherwise.
To every person that is nice and considerate of fellow students – thank you. We can’t count the number of times someone has waited and held the door open for someone as he or she balances a sandwich and hot chocolate in one hand and a bag in the other. We appreciate it. We like that when we accidentally do something really stupid and bump into someone in the hall, you don’t get mad. Overall, thanks to everyone who treats others like human beings. We’re thankful this year for good friends, kind strangers and a hardworking university.
We’ve mentioned it before, but thanks to the groundskeepers and janitors who keep campus looking so nice. Instead of stepping around garbage while walking across campus, there are flower beds and beautiful lawns.
So, basically, we just want to say thanks for a lot of little things that make everything else not so bad. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
