The Blue and White Sports Debate

Are Pacman’s and Chris Henry’s suspensions justified?

Pacman Jones won’t see the field for a whole year, and Henry won’t play until the halfway mark. Good. It’s about time. If you are interviewed by the police 10 times, you deserve to take a year off. In the real world, they both would have been fired from their jobs. I think if I was making millions of dollars to play football, I could find ways to stay out of trouble – like swimming all day in a pool full of fine champagne or making paper airplanes out of $100 bills and throwing them at hobos.

Who’s going to rule college football next fall?

It’s spring scrimmage time, which means it’s about time we pick some national championship contenders. The crystal ball isn’t too clear yet, but I think Florida has a great chance to return to the BCS National Title fiasco. Urban Meyer is still there and Tim Tebow is still a stud. Now all they need is a defense. I think Arkansas will be good again. Darren McFadden is a good pre-preseason Heisman pick, and he’ll be back. And you can always count on USC to be good. Michigan should be good, too. But I think someone from the SEC will take it.

In the NBA, who’s the best team in each conference?

I want to gloat for a second. I picked the Miami Heat to make a second-half run. I stayed with them after D-Wade got hurt. What did they do? They went on a run, clinched their division, earned a playoff spot and have made it into the number four slot in the East. Ha ha ha. They’re my team in the East. D-Wade and Shaq, need I say more? All the teams in the West are good – even the Warriors – but Dallas is the class of the conference. They score. They defend. Dirk is an MVP candidate. And Mark Cuban is insane. You gotta love it.

Did Tiger blow the Masters?

No, the Masters blew, but Tiger Woods wasn’t the one supplying the air. The course and the cold pretty much beat the hell out of the field. Zach Johnson won with a +1, which is tied for the lowest winning score in tournament history. Tiger didn’t play well, but he didn’t play terribly either. The course just played him. But at least he didn’t play as bad as Phil Mickelson. Even I could get a triple bogey, Phil.

Rant

I have a problem, and I’m going to use my rant to share it with the world – or at least the five of you who read this. I can’t leave the NFL alone. If the NFL was one of my ex-girlfriends, it would need to get a restraining order against me, because I’m constantly trying to look through its blinds and catch it in a sensitive moment. Basically, I can’t stop watching NFL Live and the NFL Network, even though the season doesn’t start for almost six months. I need help getting interested in baseball, basketball, hockey, UEFA Cup soccer or anything. Help.

Is the NFL justified in the recent bannings of Pacman Jones and Chris Henry

I applaud Roger Goodell for doing what should have been done a long time ago. Since Pacman Jones was drafted by the Titans, he has been involved in nine different “instances” – everything from three arrests to a parole violation. Do I need to say anything else? As for Henry, his suspension sent a message out to all NFL players that if you mess around at all, you will be accountable for it.

Who is the best team in both the Western and Eastern Conferences’?

It pains me deeply to not be able to pick the Jazz out of the West. The Phoenix Suns are the best team out of the West because of Steve Nash. Out of the East, I have to pick the Detroit Pistons. They might not be the hottest team right now, but they have four guys in the starting lineup who have played together for years and who can all score when needed.

Did Tiger Woods choke in the Masters or was it just a tough course?

Yes, it was a tough course, but isn’t Tiger Woods supposed to be an arm and a leg better than everyone else? Even on a tough course that left everyone with high scores, shouldn’t his score be the lowest of the high scores? The fact is that Tiger choked. He choked on holes 17 and 18 on Friday and Saturday and again on Sunday when he tried to drive the green in two and ended up going fishing. Plain and simple – Tiger choked, and don’t look for him to do that again soon.

With spring practices coming to a close, what is the outlook for college football next year?

I have a couple of things to watch for next year in college football. First, USU will improve on its record from last year. Looking at their schedule, they have at least three games they could win. Also, Florida will not repeat as national champions. The year is already starting out bad for them with lineman Ronnie Wilson getting arrested. Sorry BYU, I guess that counts you guys out as well since you had two players arrested.

Rant

Roger Goodell just put his reputation through the roof. He is probably not well-known by most sports fans and now after his first big PR move, he will be made out to be a superhero. His attempt at cleaning up the NFL will only sour their ratings higher.
