Third-annual Utah Chocolate Show brings chocolate fanatics

The third-annual Utah Chocolate Show was the highlight of the weekend for chocolate lovers all over the state, said Melanie Fisher, a participant in this year’s chocolate extravaganza.

The Utah Chocolate Show was founded by Melanie Henderson and her two sisters in the summer of 2003. The first premier of the show was in November of 2004 and this year it was held at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy, Nov. 17 and 18.

Chocolate wasn’t the only thing being tasted and sold. There were jewelry, purses and plenty of other candy, making it a big event for many businesses.

While walking through the maze of different displays, people could be heard saying things like, “Everything here is so good” and even the occasional “I want everything here.”

“I’m really glad we came here,” said Abby Osborn, one attender of the event. “This is so well put together and such an inviting atmosphere.”

Fisher said she was happy that it wasn’t just chocolate. It was a better situation, she said, because there was a variety of things to look at and to taste.

“Because you never forget your first love” is the phrase at the top of the chocolate show’s Web site and it’s a statement that struck many participants, said Crista Richardson, a participant herself.

“Chocolate is a big part of almost everyone’s life, so why not celebrate it?” she said. “I wish we could do this everyday.”

Fisher said this event is for everyone, not just those who love chocolate. This is something that everyone can come to and enjoy, she said.
