THREE AGGIES EARN RECOGNITION FROM FOOTBALL NEWS

Utah State wide receiver Kevin Curtis was named a third-team preseason All-America by the Football News it was announced on Monday. Curtis was also named to the magazine’s all-Independent team along with teammates David Fiefia and Jesse Busta.

Curtis, a senior-to-be, led the nation in receptions with 9.1 per game last year. Curtis caught a school-record 100 passes for another school mark 1,531 yards in 2001. He earned third-team All-America honors from the Associated Press a year ago.

Busta, a senior-to-be linebacker was a first-team all-Big West Conference selection in 2000 and has recorded at least 100 tackles in each of the last two years. Last year he recorded exactly 100 tackles, including 13 for losses.

Fiefia is slated to be USU’s starting tailback. He spent his freshman season at wide receiver and pulled in 31 balls for 344 yards. Last year as a sophomore he was returned to his natural running back position and backed up All-American Emmett White. Playing in place of White Fiefia rushed 16 times for 116 yards in the season finale against Fresno State. On the year he had 10 carries for 187 yards.
