Summer is a great time to go out and see movies. The season is often known by its summer blockbuster lineup. Here are some of the summer movies that are making a splash in theaters.
1. Oceans 8
This movie is a great addition to the “Oceans” series. It’s all-star all-female cast completely take over the screen. It is unique to see some big celebrities acting as members of a heist gang. Its classic heist plot line keeps viewers engaged and wondering how they will be able to pull it off. This film is all around good entertainment that will make viewers want to go back and rewatch the other “Oceans” films.
2. Heredity
This film first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, but it has now found its way onto the big screen for summer. Filmed here in Utah, this film’s eerie and creepy storyline is unlike any other horror film. It touches on the topics of mental health and the way a family deals with it. It’s realness adds to the dark mood of the film. Heredity will have viewers leaving the theater feeling very spooked.
3. Incredibles 2
Finally, the sequel movie-goers have been waiting for for years. The incredible Parr family is back along with other old favorites and some new supers, but this time they face a much more sinister threat to their super world. The dynamic duo of Jack Jack and Edna Mode truly steal the show. The film is fun for the entire family.
4. Jurassic World
This highly anticipated follow-up is refreshing but also still nostalgic like the other Jurassic Park films. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are back in their starring roles along with others from the franchise. This time there are double the dinos and, of course, some trouble along the way.
5. Adrift
This is the dark horse of summer movies. Based on a true story, “Adrift” is a story of survival that will thrill audience. The trailers give the impression that it’s just a love story travel movie, but it is so much more than that. Shailene Woodley plays the lead perfectly, portraying the life-and-death struggle of surviving at sea. There also is a huge plot twist that really adds to the authenticity of the film.
