Tuition Hike

I was nearly set to go to BYU this year, I even registered for classes. I was elated; BYU was my dream school, after all, but when it came to crunching numbers I had to reevaluate. BYU was prestigous, but its cost – even with my scholarship – outweighed its charm. I looked to USU, which wasn’t completely devoid of charm itself. After a heated debate with myself, I packed my stuff and moved home. The determining factor and one that rules most of our lives (sadly) – money. Now, it looks like I might have made the wrong decision. In 3 years, according to President Hall’s numbers, it will be evident that BYU’s cost is well worth it’s glam contrasted to USU. USU appeals to me because you can get a quality degree without forking over an arm, a leg, or your parents’ retirement fund. Also, look at what this money will be funding. A new resident hall? We can’t even fill the ones already built. This drastic change will embitter current students and make recruiting new ones nigh on impossible. I don’t want to go into debt to pay for USU’s and I doubt many others do either.
