Uncle of missing girl booked into Cache County Jail as suspect in the case
Twenty-one-year-old Alexander Whipple was arrested early Sunday morning in connection with a missing 5-year-old girl, who police say is his niece.
Whipple was booked into Cache County Jail on an FTA Warrant for absconding from probation, according to jail records.
In a Facebook post, Logan Police say Whipple was not cooperating with the investigation and search teams are continuing to search for the girl.
Whipple was at the home of the girl’s mother and her boyfriend Friday night, KUTV reported. He left the house between 2 a.m. and 9 am., which is when police say the girl went missing.
According to court records, Whipple was convicted of a felony in 2017 and sentenced to prison after engaging in a police pursuit in a stolen truck while intoxicated.
Whipple was ordered to serve five years of probation rather than prison time, and a warrant for his arrest was issued in April 2019, for failing to comply with probation.
The FBI and other local agencies joined search efforts Sunday morning, and authorities are still searching for the girl.
The FBI and local agencies worked through the night finishing search warrants and following up on leads. Main suspect Alex Whipple continued to be uncooperative and was booked into the Cache County Jail on an FTA warrant for absconding from probation. Search teams are again
