USU basketball beats Simon Fraser 92-56
In a final tune up before kicking off the regular season, the Utah State men’s basketball team showcased its offensive firepower with a 92-56 win over Simon Fraser on Saturday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
“We were able to score easily and we did what we had to do,” USU head coach Stew Morrill said. “But it’s time to move up in competition and that’s what the regular season will bring.”
Preston Medlin paced all scorers with 18 points in 24 minutes, and three other Aggies reached double digits. Kyisean Reed finished with 11 points on four highlight-reel dunks, while Marvin Jean also added 11 and Jarred Shaw finished with 12.
The Aggies finished with 19 assists, a mark they surpassed just four times all of last season, including a game-high nine assists from TeNale Roland.
“Coach prepared us well for the week, and we came in prepared,” Roland said. “Guys just knocked down shots. They ran the floor well and I got it to them and they knocked down shots.”
Utah State will start the 2012-13 campaign hosting Idaho State on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
