USU football to play Fresno State with no fans
Utah State football’s second home game of this shortened season will be played without fans.
Utah State Vice President and Director of Athletics John Hartwell announced Tuesday that fans will not be allowed inside Maverik Stadium for the Aggies’ Mountain West home game against Fresno State this Saturday, Nov. 14.
According to a press release from the USU athletics department, this decision is based off recommendations and safety guidelines from university, local and state officials due to increased COVID-19 hospitalizations and unsustainable case rates in Utah. The release also mentioned that as of now, these restrictions only apply to this weekend’s football game.
So far, the only home game of this season for the Aggies was against San Diego State on Oct. 31. and there was a reported 5,116 fans in attendance.
Saturday’s game will be nationally televised on Fox Sports 2 and is scheduled to kickoff at 12:30 p.m.
For anyone that purchased a ticket to Saturday’s game, Utah State will be processing an automatic refund, which the Utah State Ticket Office anticipates starting Wednesday.
