The Utah State club hockey team completed a weekend sweep at the Beehive Grill Showcase by beating San Jose State University by a score of 6-2 Saturday night at the George S. Eccles Ice Center in North Logan.

Aggie captain Brian Gibbons opened the scoring in the first period with a goal on the power play. It was the first of his three goals on the night.

Also scoring for the Aggies were forwards Ian Beckstrom and Cooper Limb, while defenseman Shaun Gibbons potted one of his own on a deflection on a power play.

In the second period, play opened up as each team started going for big hits. The Aggies rode the momentum of their physical play to Beckstrom’s goal.

The Aggies and Spartans traded goals twice in during the back-and-forth second period.

Utah State has two weeks off before they head to the Western Showcase in Colorado.
