USU hockey shuts out BYU once more

SEAN O’SULLIVAN, staff writer

Utah State’s club hockey team reached double-digit scoring for the second straight game as the Aggies blanked Brigham Young University 12-0 Friday night at the George S. Eccles Ice Center in North Logan.

This is the second time the Aggies have shut BYU out this year.

Utah State came out strong, and defenseman Jordan Kerr scored within the first minute with assists from forwards Cooper Limb and Chris Videto. Limb scored a hat trick on the night, while Videto added a goal of his own.

Joining that trio in the score column were forwards Devin Holmes, Dee Fontaine and Dagen Walton. The Aggies’ balanced attack continued as forwards Matt Hamilton, Matt Rutherford, Andrew Latham and Brian Gibbons all added goals of their own.

Goalie Nathaniel Cabrera posted the shutout in his first start in net this year by saving 14 BYU shots.

Rutherford also recorded a fight and will be disqualified from the Aggies’ next game.
