USU softball freshman named first-team All-Mountain West
Freshman shortstop Lexi Orozco was announced to the all-conference team this morning, making her the seventh freshman in Utah State history to earn first-team all-conference accolades, and the third to do so in the Mountain West era. She was the lone Aggie named to any of the all-conference teams this season.
Orozco had a stellar season for the Aggies and led the team in nearly every offensive category. Her .336 batting average was best on the team and was one of six statistical categories that Orozco led the team in.
Orozco’s 13 home runs broke a record previously held by former Aggie infielder Victoria Saucedo who hit 12 in 2016. Her 44 RBI were also near the top of the record books, falling just four short of the single-season program record. Orozco finished the year ranked in the top-10 of four Mountain West categories and is the highest-ranked freshman in three of those four.
