USU student reported missing, police asking for help
Baxter Franklin King, a Utah State University student, was reported missing Oct. 17, and the USU police have no leads so far.
King was reported missing after his classmates hadn’t heard anything for multiple days.
Tim Vitale, the associate vice president of communications at USU said, “those close to the student believe it’s unusual for him to be out of contact for so long.”
Vitale said all of the information the university knows about King’s disappearance has been released, but there have been no updates.
“There’s nothing new as of right now,” Vitale said. “They’ve put out alerts through their systems and we’ve alerted the media, and the media have put out alerts.”
“We decided it best to put out an alert to see if either he himself might contact family or friends or us, the police or if anyone with information could help us get to the bottom of this,” Vitale said. “All we know is that it was unusual for him to be out of contact.”
Evy Bird, a USU sophomore, said when she heard about the missing student, she was surprised she hadn’t already heard about it.
“I feel like it should be something that everyone needs to know about if the university is worried about his safety,” she said.
Bird said she believes in the USU police, saying “they take our safety very seriously.”
