USU volleyball player recovering, graduating
Utah State University student Greg Jorgenson was seriously injured last spring when a van in which he was traveling slid off the road during a severe snowstorm about 30 miles west of Laramie, Wyo.
Jorgenson, 23, of West Jordan, Utah, suffered head injuries when he was thrown from the vehicle. Since that time Jorgenson has made a remarkable recovery. A senior English major at Utah State University, Jorgenson was approved for graduation by the Department of English this past May, and his family was told that a private graduation ceremony would be held when possible.
Jorgenson has now recovered to the point where this is possible and a graduation ceremony took place Saturday, June 30, at 7 p.m. at the Amphitheater located on Old Main Hill. Jorgenson and members of his family and friends, along with representatives of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of English, attended.
Jorgenson, doctors say, has made a miraculous recovering, waking from a coma just two days before being transferred to a long-term care facility. He continues to receive therapy, but is able to walk, talk and is working on his memory. He hopes to attend USU in the fall for graduate studies.
