USU volleyball team beats Vandals

It was sweet revenge for the Utah State volleyball team Thursday on the road. Led by the senior tandem of Shay Sorensen and Josselyn White, the Aggies gritted out a five-set victory over the Vandals.

It was the first time this season the Aggies went on to win a match after dropping the first set, thanks in large part to the defense. USU finished with 20 block assists, and overcame a 0-1 and 1-2 deficit to win the final two sets for the win.

Sorensen finished with 18 kills, while White added 17 and sophomore Rachel Orr had 16 to outduel the Vanals with three players in double digits in kills. Allison Walker recorded a match-high 19 kills, Katelyn Petersen had 13 and Ashley Christman had 11 for Idaho.

Utah State improved to 14-7 overall with the win and remained atop the WAC standings at 9-2. Idaho fell to 9-11 overall this season and 7-3 in WAC play.

The Aggies conclude their two-game road trip with a visit to Seattle on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m.
