Thirteen teams from all parts of Utah and Idaho will compete in the Utah State University-hosted Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo this weekend at the Cache County Fair grounds.

This weekend’s rodeos will be the only time USU will compete at home this season.

The first rodeo will be Friday at 7 p.m. with two more taking place Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Aggie men’s team will be without Keegan Miller, one of their top bull riders, who broke his shoulder blade last weekend at Southern Utah University, said USU Rodeo Head Coach Jeff Hall.

He said USU’s top bareback riders are Keegan Miller, Danny Blackurst and Seth Garfield.

The women’s team’s strongest event is goat tying, Hall said. Sara Sulger and Pam Nelson lead the Aggies in this area.

The women’s team finished in second place with 120 ponts in the SUU rodeo. The men’s team, hampered by injuries, finished with 55 points.

In its first rodeo of the season at Salt Lake Community College Sept. 13 the men’s team finished with 180 points, good for fourth place in the region. The women’s team finished with 40 points for sixth place.

Saturday’s rodeo will also feature a segment “Kids Day” at the Fairgrounds with games and contests from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The first 100 children under 12 years of age will receive free toys.

With a student ID card, tickets are $3.
