Utah State Track and Field Teams Will Compete In Two Meets This Weekend
LOGAN, Utah – Utah State’s men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in two meets this weekend as USU will send 11 student-athletes to Pocatello, Idaho to compete in the Idaho State Springfest Open on Saturday, while the rest of the team will travel to Boise, Idaho to compete in the Boise State Invitational also on Saturday.
Last weekend, Utah State had seven individual winners and set 24 personal-bests at the Clarence Robison Invitational hosted by BYU. Freshman DJ Smith led the way for the Aggie men by winning the 100-meters with a time of 10.56, which is a new personal-best in that event. Smith also finished second in the 200-meters with a time of 21.60, and set a PR in the 200-meters in the preliminaries with a time of 21.55.
Sophomore Kelli Burton led the Aggie women as she won the discus with a throw of 163-05 and the shot put with a toss of 49-11.75.
Utah State will conclude its regular season by hosting the Wilson Motor Invitational on May 6, before competing in the Big West Championships on May 12-15.
