Utah State Volleyball Has One Of The Top Recruiting Classes In Nation

Following its first-ever Western Athletic Conference Tournament championship and its fourth trip to the NCAA Tournament during the 2010 season, Utah State’s head volleyball coach Grayson DuBose has put together one of the best recruiting classes in the nation and Western Athletic Conference according to PrepVolleyball.com.

PrepVolleyball.com ranked Utah State’s most recent recruiting class as one of the top 55 in the nation as it was one of 25 schools to receive ‘Highest Honorable Mention’ honors along with fellow WAC member New Mexico State.  Hawai’i had the league’s highest-ranked recruiting class at No. 12.

The class, which is voted on by select collegiate coaches from across the country, consists only of high school players and does not include junior college and four-year transfers.

DuBose, who is entering his sixth season at Utah State, will welcome seven newcomers to the program when fall camp begins in August, including six incoming freshmen. Those freshmen that made up this ranking include Elle Brainard (Saratoga Springs, Utah/Westlake HS); Shan England (Cave Creek, Ariz./Cactus Shadow HS); Rachel Orr (Thatcher, Ariz./Thatcher HS); Ashlan Rogers (Highland, Utah/Lone Peak HS); and Kaitlyn VanHoff (Draper, Utah/Alta HS).

Utah State’s other two newcomers include junior Alyssa Everett (Perry, Utah/College of Southern Idaho) and freshman Alexis Walker (Idaho Falls, Idaho/Idaho Falls HS).  

In all, Utah State returns three starters and six letterwinners from last year’s team that finished the year with a 24-9 record, including a 9-7 WAC mark to place third. Those 24 wins for USU rank as the seventh-most in school history and the most since the 1982 season.
