Utes 24, Aggies 10
The Utes of the University of Utah have used big plays to overcome a 7-0 first-quarter deficit and lead the Utah State Aggies, 24-10. Aggie safety James Brindley was the spark for USU in the first half as he took an interception back 64 yards to the Ute 1-yard line. Quarterback Leon Jackson III then punched the ball into the end zone on the next play. That Aggie touchdown was their first first-quarter points since last year’s home loss to Hawaii. The Utes responded ontheir next drive as they marched 72 yards in eight plays to set up a 22-yard Brian Johnson touchdown pass to Jereme Brooks. To begin the second quarter Utah’s Derrek Richards took a punt return back 75 yards for a touchdown. The Utes’ next score was a 38-yard TD pass from Johnson to wideout Marquis Wilson, who was covered poorly by USU’s Kejon Murphy. A Ute field goal ended the half.
