Wells Fargo robbed of about $3,000

Logan City police are investigating after approximately $3,000 was stolen from the Logan Wells Fargo Bank Wednesday.

The robbery occurred at 11:22 a.m. at the branch located at 5 S. Main St.

The money was taken after an unidentified male passed a note to a teller and threatened the use of a firearm. No one was hurt in the incident.

“Given the situation, we are extremely grateful that no one was injured,” said Mark Chapman, spokesman for Wells Fargo. “The safety of our customers and employees is our top priority.”

Security will continue to be evaluated at Wells Fargo, he said.

“This [security] is an on-going procedure. We want to make sure that we are at the cutting edge,” Chapman said. “We evaluate after any kind of situation, to make sure the necessary procedures are there.”

The man is identified as being in his 30s, possibly Hispanic, and wearing a navy blue Old Navy hooded sweatshirt and black framed sunglasses.

He is estimated to be 140 to 150 pounds, and is described as having sharp facial features with a prominent nose.

Captain James Geier of the Logan City Police Department said, “We have received consistent feedback from the community and developed a number of leads.”

And while there are no significant developments in the case, “there are a number of people we are interested in,” Geier said.

People in the community are urged to keep a lookout.

“Although we haven’t substantiated the firearms claim, we urge citizens who come in contact with this person to be cautious. If they see him, he should be considered armed and dangerous,” Geier said.

Chapman said Wells Fargo intends to do all it can to help employees and customers recover from the incident by allowing employees time off and providing counseling.

“We just think we have a great staff at the Logan Main Branch,” Chapman said. “They are highly trained, and highly professional. We are relieved and proud of each of them and the fine job they are doing.”

Chapman said the company is grateful for the assistance of the Logan Police Department and they are assured that “police are doing everything they can and we are willing to help in any way possible.”

An award is being offered by the Logan City Police Department for any information leading to an arrest in the case.

Information can be called in to the police at 716-9300, or 716-9400.
