What’s on your #aggiebucketlist?

After two semesters of classes and tests, it’s time for summer. Many students choose to go back to their parents’ home during the off months off school. Other students stay up in Logan to work, take classes or gain residency.

Work and school aren’t the only things students can do during the summer in Cache Valley. With many popular restaurants nearby and easy access to the Logan canyon, there are a lot of activities and events to experience.

Here are just a few suggestions to put on your Cache Valley summer bucket list:

The Great Outdoors:

Just a few minutes away from Utah State University, Logan Canyon is home to many hiking trails, camping grounds and fishing spots. Some of the more popular attractions include the Crimson Trail, First and Second Dam, the Wind Caves and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

Outside of Logan Canyon, other popular outdoor attractions include cliff jumping at Porcupine Reservoir, raspberry shakes at Bear Lake, and camping at Bloomington Lake.

Summerfest Arts Faire: June 16-18

Art, entertainment, and food are offered under the shade of the Logan Tabernacle for this popular June event. Held during the Father’s Day weekend, visitors have the opportunity to see and buy fine art from artists from across the country. Mediums include painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry and more.

The Cache Valley Gardener’s Market takes place at Merlin Olsen Park every Saturday morning. The market includes a variety of homegrown produce as well as handmade crafts. CARL R. WILSON photo

Saturday Morning Farmer’s Markets: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

From May to October, locally grown produce, unique food brands, and hand-made arts and crafts are sold at farmers markets all over Utah. Logan is home to the Cache Valley Gardeners Market, which opens every Saturday morning by the downtown Logan Courthouse.

The Cache Valley Cruise-In: June 30-July 2

This early July event has been growing in popularity in recent years and attracts over 1000 vehicles from cars to motorcycles and trucks, both restored and custom built. Started in 1982, this three day event is held at the Logan fairgrounds and hosted by the Cache Valley Cruising Association.
