Women’s basketball picked eighth in MW poll; Boise State picked to repeat
The preseason Mountain West women’s basketball poll was released today; USU stands 8th in the conference, and the complete rankings are as follows:
- Boise State
- UNLV
- Fresno State

Boise State is, once again, entering the season as the expected class of the conference, receiving 19 of the 23 first place votes with good reason. The Broncos finished first in the conference last season with a record of 23-10 and went 14-4 in conference play while splitting the regular season title with UNLV, before defeating Nevada in the tournament title game.
In comparison, the Aggies finished the 2018 season with a win loss record of 7-23 overall and 5-13 in MW play and received no first place votes.
In addition to the poll, the preseason All-Mountain West team was also announced:
Riley Lupfer, Jr. G, BS
Marta Hermida, Sr. G, BS
Candice White, Sr. G, FS
Katie Powell, Sr. F/C, UNLV
Jaisa Nunn, Sr. C, NM
Riley Lupfer is also predicted to be the MW conference player of the year with fellow Bronco Guard Jade Loville forecasted to be the Freshman of the year and transfer player Mollie Monsey from Colorado State expected to be Newcomer of the year.
The voting for the poll and these honors was done by the head coaches of each team and media members.
The Aggies play their only exhibition game of the season Friday night in the Spectrum against Westminster at 7 p.m. Their regular season begins Tuesday with a non-conference showdown in Pullman, Wash. where Utah State hopes to take down the Washington State Cougars.
