Women’s lacrosse club aims for sweep of in-state rivals
The Utah State University women’s lacrosse club will be battling for its third win this season against Weber State University and their first win against the University of Utah in two seasons Saturday in Ogden.
USU will play its first game against the U of U at 10:30 a.m. and their last game against Weber at noon.
USU’s game against the U of U will be the first match between the two teams since last spring, so the Aggies have little to prepare with, club president Michelle Taggart said.
“I hear they’re pretty good,” she said. “It’s going to be a tough game, [but] a good game.”
The Aggies will be counting on the team’s leading scorer with 16 goals, Kate Claslin to lead the team to victory against the very evenly matched U of U squad, Taggart said.
Against Weber, a team the Aggies have gone 2-0 this season against, USU is confident they will get the win, Taggart said, but that doesn’t mean the Aggies aren’t excited to play them.
“We love playing Weber [because] they’re fun to play with,” she said. “They have really nice girls, but they’re also very competitive.”
Overall the Aggies feel good about the weekend, Taggart said.
“I feel really confident about the games,” she said. “We’ve been practicing really hard for [the games]. All season long we’ve worked hard.”
