Words cannot be changed? They were…

In an article written on Dec. 3, Callie Taggart wrote about how the sacred institution of marriage should not be allowed among the “gay” community on the basis that the definition of “marriage” is “unity between a man and a woman”. She then continues to say that “one cannot just change the definition of a word on a whim”.

In writing her own article Ms. Taggart should have taken into account the fact that she openly, and whimsically used the word “gay” in a meaning outside of the initial definition of this word, which had it’s own definition changed from “1: merry 2: bright, lively 3: brilliant in color (from the Merriam Webster Dictionary, 5th edition)” to “homosexual”.

Throughout generations, the English language has been adapted and adjusted to fit the times. Perhaps Ms. Taggart might venture into doing the same.
