LETTER: Vehicle issues near Merrill, too

Editor,

I read with interest your article in Friday’s paper about the problem with students, faculty and staff ignoring the “No Stopping or Standing” signs at the TSC. We have the same problem behind Merrill Library. On any given day and at nearly any time of day, when turning off 400 North onto Champ Drive, there is a line up of cars because people are completely ignoring the signs.

This is both dangerous and inconvenient for the people turning into the university. I suggest that a $75 fine is not much of a threat, if the signs are not enforced. I don’t think it would take long to remedy these hazards if people standing waiting for a ride and/or stopping to pick someone up were to be ticketed – without exception.
