Democrats in need of Dean

On Wednesday Jon Cox wrote a column stating what he believes the Democrats should do with the leadership of the party. This is funny coming from somebody that, if a moderate, definitely leans to the side of the Republican Party. The Democrats need Dean! Dean did amazing things with his campaign. He activated the young; he raised money through private donations not corporate donations. His scream is something that most democrats felt when the election results finally came in. He is the future of the party. If we democrats follow the suggestion of Mr. Cox and move in a direction that brings us closer to the Republican Party, we lose the separation of the two parties. This has been the direction in the past, our leadership has tried to conform to the middle, but that simply puts more power into the hands of the Republicans. They can simply label us as Liberal idealists and win time and time again. It is time for us to embrace the term “Liberal,” to scream that we are different, that we are the party of the common person who has a hard time making the payments on the increasing cost of living. We have values, such as being able to get a good job, education and a home. We believe in equality, not only for those who can afford it, but for everyone. We need to show the American people that even though we lost in many respects, we will never die out, and that we will continue fighting for our country. The Scream from Dean wasn’t a mistake, but a rally cry. All democrats that want a return to the energy we once had must support Dean.
